HAPPY NEW WAVE: GEWALT + NAU PONIX (RELEASE PARTY) + CRACK PARK
Happy New Wave avant-garde with the return of Gewalt and their acclaimed new album “Doppeldenk”. Berlin’s darkest band is back on the road to hit us with an even more raw and nihilistic sound. Opening the show: a release party from the psycho-synth project Nau Ponix and the new punk supergroup from Tournai, Crack Park!
ARTISTS & PROGRAMMING
A hooded trio formed in 2021 in Tournai (the first capital of the Franks) in the cursed bowels of the infamous Water Moulin.
An alchemy of dark psychedelia, haunting drone, heavy drums, fuzzy bass, and synth pads that are at once kitschy, menacing, and multilingual. A love for the absurd and the aberrant. Categorizes exist but remain useless. Their debut album, half home-recorded, half studio-recorded, a mixed bag, is released by Rockerill Records, Love Mazout Records, and Patou Records.
Crack Park is a Belgian Egg Punk/NoWave band born in the misty depths of the Watermoulin district in Tournai. Formed by members from other turbulent projects, the quartet brings together two veterans of the underground scene and two young hotheads, overflowing with creativity, passion, and ideas that aren't always legal.
Nourished by the acidic legacy of the Dead Kennedys and the joyfully absurd dissonance of Uranium Club, Crack Park cultivates a sharp and disjointed energy, oscillating between rhythmic chaos and sonic sarcasm.
Alright, here we go again. Berlin's darkest export, Gewalt, is back on the road. Or rather, they never left it. After a rather noisy tour of Mexico, the United States, England, and various parts of Europe – with their disturbingly contemporary album Doppeldenk – the noise collective has just finished a tour supporting the Swedish band Refused, the eternal agitators of post-hardcore.
Here now is phase two of this seemingly endless tour cycle.
Comprised of Helen Henfling, Sol Astolfi, Patrick Wagner, and drum machine wizard Linn Drum, Gewalt delivers music built on raw pressure and sonic nihilism. Imagine the metallic guitar sound of Gang of Four, filtered through a distorted speaker, enveloped in industrial angst, and plunged into total darkness. They make music both for dancing and for collapsing.
